A Message of Gratitude

by | Nov 15, 2022

Dear Blue Crew-

As I write this, I am currently taking some time off from Alkalign to Recharge with my family. I don’t know about you, but the Covid years were INTENSE and I’m feeling a bit burned out. We spent years in a fight or flight state, pivoting and adjusting to every news story, case count, and county mandate, while trying to manage the constant state of fear. Fear of transmission. Fear of sickness. And for me, fear that Alkalign would go under.

While Alkalign was greatly impacted by Covid (we shut down 3 studios and ceased construction on another), I am proud that we are still standing. I am grateful for all of you who have stood by us, who have shown up and have continued to support our mission. Alkalign was never created to be just “another workout studio”, and the strength, resilience and awesomeness of this community has proven that we are indeed unique.

I recently went back and watched some of the 50+ weekly update videos I made during Covid. I was reminded of the challenges we faced day-to-day. Like childbirth, I forgot how painful that time was. I am blown away by the obstacles we overcame and by the overwhelming support we received from this community. And we did it gracefully, never missing a beat.

I am grateful for my team who stood by me and demonstrated such immense patience as we navigated the transition from in-person to online, and all the challenges that came along with it. Thank you for letting Alkalign take over your living room with makeshift home studio equipment, obnoxious water wall banners and wanna-be-influencer-level lighting.

I am grateful for our clients who not only stood by us, but were vulnerable with us. You invited us into your homes for livestream classes. You allowed us to meet your families and your pets. And in some cases you even (unintentionally) shared (a lot of) a spouse getting out of the shower in the background while you were Alkaligning in the foreground. Speaking of gratitude, let’s give it up for Zoom’s added “blur background” feature. 😉

In all seriousness, we have all been through A LOT, Covid and otherwise. Illness, injuries, births and deaths. While I mourn the losses, I also celebrate all that we have gained. I have gained perspective for how much worse it can be, and appreciation for all that is going well. I’ve also gained the confidence to know that we can scale back our class offerings this holiday season to give our small-but-mighty team the time off they so desperately need and deserve, and know that you will understand. After being closed for 2 years I am just grateful we have any in-person classes. And, of course we have amassed a ton of On Demand options so you’re never without Alkalign.

If you haven’t already, join our ‘Tis the Season of Self-Care Challenge. Download calendar here. New events and curated content are added each week!

Thank you for being part of the Blue Crew. Wishing you health and peace during this holiday season.

Xo,
Erin

It Doesn't Have to Hurt to Work

A NEW, 2-week FREE program we are offering to any and all who want to get off the hamster wheel and try something that 1) works and 2) you will enjoy in the process. No more beating yourself up and spiraling the shame drain thinking you have to do more and be more. We embrace a philosophy that it doesn’t have to hurt to work. The extremes aren’t sustainable. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to your body. Slow, steady and sane wins the race of life. And we are here to help you along the way.

Hi! I’m Erin and my passion in life is helping others feel better by helping them get out of their own head. So much of our relationship to food and fitness is a reflection of deeply rooted beliefs that were imprinted on us at a very early age. These beliefs drive all sorts of behaviors, many of which are not good for our physical or mental health. I know this first-hand. As a former calorie-counting cardio queen I played right into all the toxic messages about what it meant to be “healthy”. That all changed when I hit rock bottom. Since leaving my corporate career in 2009 I have been fully committed to shifting the narrative and helping people experience better physical health by unpacking unhealthy beliefs. My biggest inspiration are my two young daughters, who I hope to raise in a household that openly illuminates and addresses the misinformation instead of adopting it.
