Have you fallen off the workout wagon?

by | Oct 24, 2022

We have noticed a definite trend with our livestream offering. During Covid, lots of people showed up live. Whether it was for the community, the connection or the workout itself, you were there. Early morning, mid morning, evening. Since the world has gone back to “normal”, livestream attendance has diminished. While receiving the recording is a great option in terms of flexibility, be honest, how many of you take those recordings consistently? How many land in your inbox and then expire without ever being viewed?

In the spirit of sharing best practices, we’ve found that those who have stuck with Alkalign most consistently are those who show up LIVE – in person and LIVESTREAM. There is something about commitment and following through that evolves into consistent habits. On the flip side, once you decide you can “do it later”, you start opting out more often and before you know it, you forget how good you felt when you were Alkaligning regularly and then you send us a note and cancel altogether.

I am one of those people who truly loves to exercise. I love the way it feels in my body. I set aside time every day to move in some way. But honestly, I won’t take an Alkalign class unless it’s in person in the studio or I have signed up and show up live via the livestream offering. I tell myself I will take the recording. I know that there are 800+ videos available On Demand at my fingertips. Yet I don’t.

If you want to feel good…healthy, strong, confident, fit and more stable in terms of mental health, consistency is key. Alkalign provides the gentle consistency you need, but it only works if you show up.

Rather than downgrading your membership to save money or relying on the convenience of the recordings that end up collecting dust in your inbox, try something new. Show up in person if you’re local. Show up LIVE in person. Reserve and immediately add it to your calendar. Protect that time like you would a doctor visit or coveted hair appointment. Put yourself on the front burner. No one else  is going to prioritize your self-care/strength training/health.

PS: The individualized attention is the best and most unique thing about Alkalign. Anyone can take a class from a huge digital platform and be a number on the other side of the screen. Not everyone has the option to be a person with a name and with unique physical needs. Alkalign goes to great lengths to make that possible. You are lucky enough to know about it and have access to it. Sign up. Show up. Try it 3x a week for a month and see how you feel. Then you can re-evaluate. But you’ll never know how good you can feel unless you establish a consistent routine.

It Doesn't Have to Hurt to Work

A NEW, 2-week FREE program we are offering to any and all who want to get off the hamster wheel and try something that 1) works and 2) you will enjoy in the process. No more beating yourself up and spiraling the shame drain thinking you have to do more and be more. We embrace a philosophy that it doesn’t have to hurt to work. The extremes aren’t sustainable. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to your body. Slow, steady and sane wins the race of life. And we are here to help you along the way.

Hi! I’m Erin and my passion in life is helping others feel better by helping them get out of their own head. So much of our relationship to food and fitness is a reflection of deeply rooted beliefs that were imprinted on us at a very early age. These beliefs drive all sorts of behaviors, many of which are not good for our physical or mental health. I know this first-hand. As a former calorie-counting cardio queen I played right into all the toxic messages about what it meant to be “healthy”. That all changed when I hit rock bottom. Since leaving my corporate career in 2009 I have been fully committed to shifting the narrative and helping people experience better physical health by unpacking unhealthy beliefs. My biggest inspiration are my two young daughters, who I hope to raise in a household that openly illuminates and addresses the misinformation instead of adopting it.
