I’m Cathy Purnell and I have had the privilege of helping clients work to become the best version of themselves possible for a decade! I came to Alkalign as an injured client/runner where I quickly recognized the value of what and how we teach. I started my relationship with Alkalign as a front desk worker. I had the privilege of getting to know both the clients and the amazing instructors. When Erin asked if I would be interested in teaching, I thought she was nuts! I was almost 50 and had ZERO fitness instruction experience! With the support and encouragement of the Alkalign community, my family and friends, I took the leap! And I am so glad I did.
Alkalign’s holistic approach to fitness truly speaks to me. The focus on balancing strength, flexibility and mobility has allowed me to continue running and hiking without aches and pains. I truly ALIGN with the belief that exercise is something we get to do vs. something we have to do. We exercise because we LOVE our body not because we are punishing ourselves for what we ate yesterday. Movement as medicine for the mind and the body! This was a big shift for me. Like many women, I have struggled with my body image and at times been compulsive about exercise and about what I am eating, or I’m not eating. Alkalign has allowed me to more fully accept and appreciate myself. I am a work in progress.
Watching clients grow stronger and more confident day to day sparks joy for me. My goal for my classes is that you leave feeling better than when you walked in and ready for whatever the day brings. I try to add some “FUN” to the functional workout. You can count on some corny jokes and silly stories along the way! That inner critic…yep, I have that snarky gal in my head as well. Let’s work together to silence the inner critic and embrace the cheerleader instead! Cheers to knowing our value and working together to be the best that we can be!
Cathy is away traveling with family and will be back on the schedule soon!
