We get some amazing feedback during class in the chat and after class while we are all lingering and chatting. This email recently landed in our inbox and to say we were 1 part flattered, 1 part humored and 1 part impressed is an understatement. Jeanne is one of our ride-or-die livestream clients. She’s a dedicated 6am-er, so that might make her a little crazy too…in all the best ways! Thanks for being part our livestream blue crew, Jeanne. We love you WAY more than camping.
The word cardio scares me. In fact, it has always scared me ever since my middle school PE classes. Why? Because I thought cardio equaled running around in a field while being too out of breath to talk with anyone and using my brainpower to observe others instead of myself – speed, distance, how many walking breaks they took, all of it. So miserable and so many inhalers.
All of what I just described? That can all be filed under “things I wish my brain didn’t believe for longer than a week” along with the ideas that over-plucked eyebrows look sexy (when they’re actually terrifying) and that camping is always fun (even though I see it as nothing but miserable).
The word cardio, in the context of Alkalign, does not scare me. In fact, it energizes me even to just know that I have an upcoming cardio class. The difference? Using unexpired inhalers. KIDDING. I learned that cardio does not necessarily mean running or bicycling or doing something as fast as you can and panting the whole time.
Cardio with Alkalign is about working large muscle groups in a variety of ways, all with the goal of reducing the risk of injuries. It’s honestly really crazy how that endorphin-filled cardio sensation can be accomplished without mindlessly jogging around a track. The cardio format of Alkalign is not the “hard one” or the “experienced only” one. It’s just another type that works very symbiotically with the other formats (Align & Build). The best part, besides the music, is that all of the potential (yes, each class is different. Like. Every. Single. One. It’s so awesome) exercises and movements are intuitive without much of a learning curve—so no matter what’s thrown at you, you can jump right in with guaranteed zero jumping. Confused? You won’t be when I see you at the next cardio class. Promise.

It Doesn't Have to Hurt to Work
A NEW, 2-week FREE program we are offering to any and all who want to get off the hamster wheel and try something that 1) works and 2) you will enjoy in the process. No more beating yourself up and spiraling the shame drain thinking you have to do more and be more. We embrace a philosophy that it doesn’t have to hurt to work. The extremes aren’t sustainable. Hi! I’m Erin and my passion in life is helping others feel better by helping them get out of their own head. So much of our relationship to food and fitness is a reflection of deeply rooted beliefs that were imprinted on us at a very early age. These beliefs drive all sorts of behaviors, many of which are not good for our physical or mental health. I know this first-hand. As a former calorie-counting cardio queen I played right into all the toxic messages about what it meant to be “healthy”. That all changed when I hit rock bottom. Since leaving my corporate career in 2009 I have been fully committed to shifting the narrative and helping people experience better physical health by unpacking unhealthy beliefs. My biggest inspiration are my two young daughters, who I hope to raise in a household that openly illuminates and addresses the misinformation instead of adopting it.
