Testimonial: “My body won’t hurt today. That was medicine.”

“Hi! I’m Sarah and I came to Alkalign because I was curious about what it was. I am not a work-out exercise person. I have a fear of pain and a diagnosed anxiety disorder that has kept me from trying new things. I’ve had spinal surgery at 18, a L5 S1 fusion. I have hypermobility that makes my joints and body do weird cirque-du- soleil contortions.
In 2018, I took a huge risk and I signed up for a 101 class and attended nervously. WOW! This “work out” was exactly what I had been taught in my many physical therapy sessions over the years. My lower back didn’t throb or shoot pain to my toes after class. I wasn’t in all-over body pain from class.  I didn’t look at the clock 5 minutes in and think “OH SHIT WHAT DID I GET MYSELF INTO?” (Never, never going back to any trendy biking classes.)
Alkalign is like a daily vitamin. A vitamin that keeps me from having cortisone injections in my SI joint every 6 months. Not having to be in a room under a live x-ray with my bum bum exposed while having needles fishing into my joints has been HUGE. I can function without all these drugs being shot into me or consumed orally. I am living how I was meant to. I believe Alkalign is a necessary part of one’s day to feed your body to do something for YOU.
Alkalign is unlike other work out centers. The instructors care about each client and engage with them on a personal level. The clients have become good friends. We have a natural accountability that makes us engage and genuinely care about  one another. We want health for one another and check in with friends who are absent. I love this community. I need this community to survive life, to survive parenting two young boys.
I live in San Carlos and am happy to do the drive to Los Altos. I never leave Alkalign thinking I wish I never came. I leave thinking “My body won’t hurt today. That was medicine.” Alkalign matters to me because it allows me to be a better mother, wife, pastry chef, craft teacher, entrepreneur, and human.”

Hi! I’m Erin and my passion in life is helping others feel better by helping them get out of their own head. So much of our relationship to food and fitness is a reflection of deeply rooted beliefs that were imprinted on us at a very early age. These beliefs drive all sorts of behaviors, many of which are not good for our physical or mental health. I know this first-hand. As a former calorie-counting cardio queen I played right into all the toxic messages about what it meant to be “healthy”. That all changed when I hit rock bottom. Since leaving my corporate career in 2009 I have been fully committed to shifting the narrative and helping people experience better physical health by unpacking unhealthy beliefs. My biggest inspiration are my two young daughters, who I hope to raise in a household that openly illuminates and addresses the misinformation instead of adopting it.
