Meet Emmanuelle!

by | Apr 6, 2024

Hello! I’m Emmanuelle, frequent Build and Align demo (and instructor for the Saturday Align). I was averse to almost all exercise until my thirties (thank you elementary and high school PE classes) until I came to Alkalign via a few other methods, and haven’t looked back since. I took Align classes in Menlo Park when my husband, then-toddler Jacob and I lived in California, but after we moved back to our home in Victoria, BC, I lost contact with the Blue Crew for a while. However, when Alkalign went online in 2020, I was able to not only re-establish contact with Erin, but also train to teach online classes.

While Align is still my favourite format, I also really love the Build classes and have noticed a significant, measurable difference in my strength since starting over a year ago. I’m so grateful Erin’s added this, as now I’m becoming more aware of the awesome ways women’s bodies change through perimenopause (also I had a baby less than 2 years ago, so that also changed my body…and brain…YAY), and how important lean muscle mass is for us. I am a lifelong hater of cardio, but I will actually take an Alkalign cardio class and enjoy it!

When I’m not demoing or teaching, I’m trying to keep my toddler Elijah from climbing literally everything in the house (and am so grateful for Jacob’s help).  My English degree helps me totally win at book club (as well as copyedit and proofread the emails and blog posts you see from Alkalign). I am longing to put my Fashion Design degree back into practice when I have longer stretches of time to myself again! For now I’m super grateful for the time I do get to demo and teach classes, and to try to savour every moment with my growing boys (it’s a challenge sometimes).

It Doesn't Have to Hurt to Work

A NEW, 2-week FREE program we are offering to any and all who want to get off the hamster wheel and try something that 1) works and 2) you will enjoy in the process. No more beating yourself up and spiraling the shame drain thinking you have to do more and be more. We embrace a philosophy that it doesn’t have to hurt to work. The extremes aren’t sustainable. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to your body. Slow, steady and sane wins the race of life. And we are here to help you along the way.

Hi! I’m Erin and my passion in life is helping others feel better by helping them get out of their own head. So much of our relationship to food and fitness is a reflection of deeply rooted beliefs that were imprinted on us at a very early age. These beliefs drive all sorts of behaviors, many of which are not good for our physical or mental health. I know this first-hand. As a former calorie-counting cardio queen I played right into all the toxic messages about what it meant to be “healthy”. That all changed when I hit rock bottom. Since leaving my corporate career in 2009 I have been fully committed to shifting the narrative and helping people experience better physical health by unpacking unhealthy beliefs. My biggest inspiration are my two young daughters, who I hope to raise in a household that openly illuminates and addresses the misinformation instead of adopting it.
